We share a lot about what we love about the Oregon Coast. So, we thought we would put it all together in one list! Here are our favorite things to do on the Oregon Coast.

Whale watching

It goes without saying, that one of our favorite things to do on the Oregon Coast is whale watching. Known as the whale watching capital of Oregon, Depoe Bay is the best place for whale watching in Oregon.

Visit the Whale Watching Center, located near the Channel House, for viewing opportunities and educational information about the whales that migrate along the Oregon Coast every year. Or simply observe the whales from the sea wall in town or from your room’s balcony at our hotel.

Take a hike

With vista viewpoints, an endless ocean, rugged cliffs, and ample wildlife viewing a coastal hike in Oregon is a must. From small hikes in Depoe Bay to the longer trails at Cascade Head, here are our favorite coastal hikes near Depoe Bay.

Watch the sunset

One of the many things that make the Oregon Coast so unique is its spectacular sunsets. Simply magical, our coastal sunsets glow a beautiful blend of color that slowly sets over the Pacific Ocean.

Watch for wildlife

Of course, in addition to whale watching, there is an abundance of wildlife to see. As you make your way along Oregon’s coastline, you will encounter scenic landscapes filled with wildlife. So, while you are out and about enjoying the landscape, also keep your eyes peeled for the wildlife of the Oregon Coast.

Winter storm watching

Winter storms hit Depoe Bay.

If you happen to visit during the winter, be sure to plan for viewing winter storms along the coast. Winter storms bring in a massive amount of rain, wind, and larger-than-life waves. While you may not be sunbathing on the beach during the winter, you are guaranteed a unique experience and a spectacular show from Mother Nature.

Food of the Oregon Coast

During your Oregon Coast road trip, you will inevitably get hungry! Lucky for you, there are many excellent restaurants and cafes along the coast serving up delicious foods. Use our guide to the best food found on the Oregon Coast to help you get started.

Spend a weekend in Depoe Bay

Our small fishing village of Depoe Bay sits right off the popular Highway 101, nestled between the coastal hotspots of Lincoln City and Newport. The coast of Depoe Bay is not that of white sandy flat beaches. It is of rough coastlines, white caps, and grey whales out at sea.

Amongst this dramatic stretch of the Oregon Coast, the town of Depoe Bay is home to seafood shacks, postcard-worthy landscapes, and the world’s smallest harbor. With so many things to do in Depoe Bay, you might think about staying longer than just a weekend.
