Breakfast

Ok, so it is a bit more inland, but start your day with breakfast at Otis Café. Consistently listed as one of the best places for breakfast in Oregon, this no-frills café serves up their legendary hash browns with white cheddar, house-baked bread, and an unforgettable oyster omelet.

Best Chowder

Located right here in Depoe Bay the 53-year-old restaurant, Gracie’s Sea Hag is still home to some of the best chowder along the Oregon Coast. Reviewed by the New York Times, Gracie’s chowder meets the lips of tasters with a clam broth with spices that are out of this world. If you are a clam-chowder fan, this is the place to try!

Fish n’ Chips

If you find yourself north in the town of Astoria, OR a local favorite that every visitor must try is Bowpicker Fish & Chips. This town favorite serves up the Oregon Coast’s best fish & chips out of a converted 28-foot-long, gillnet boat. Thick chunks of Albacore tuna are lightly beer-battered and fried, laid on a bed of thick fries for one of the best meals you’ll have on the Oregon Coast. Located across from the Columbia River Maritime Museum.

You can’t leave Oregon without having tasted a marionberry. And what better way to do that than within the form of a pie? Specific to the farms of Oregon, the marionberry, or otherwise a blackberry, is the pride and joy for Oregon residents. While you are bound to find some of the best marionberry pie in the Willamette Valley if you are traveling down the Oregon Coast be sure to stop in at Chalet Restaurant & Bakery in the town of Newport.

Dungeness Crab

When most think Oregon Coast the thought of Dungeness crab isn’t far behind. While there are many notable restaurants along the coast that serve up some fresh local crab, there are several that shouldn’t be missed. Both in Newport. Located roughly 20 minutes south of Depoe Bay, the town of Newport boasts two restaurants known for serving up some of the best Dungeness crabs in Oregon.

  • Clearwater Restaurant – comfort food with a side of local crab in the form of Dungeness crab mac and cheese and other dishes like the Dungeness crab ravioli and Dungeness crab with garlic noodles.
  • Local Ocean Seafoods – a fish market that is also a restaurant, patrons can watch as the chefs prepare freshly grilled seafood from the open-air kitchen. Dungeness crab can be found in their seafood cocktail, crab po’boy, and crab cakes.
