While there may not be any sandy beaches in Depoe Bay, there are still great opportunities for a beach day when visiting the area! Just six miles south of Depoe Bay is a perfect beach spot filled with many activities in the sand and sun this summer. Beverly Beach State Park is located in Newport, Oregon, and has miles of ocean views, sandy beaches, and even forests to hike through. From a simple beach day to camping for the night under the Pacific Coast stars, here are our favorite Beverly Beach State Park activities.
Camping
Beverly Beach State Park is home to one of Oregon’s campground sites. With tent sites, RV hookups, and yurt rentals, you have ample opportunities to spend the night surrounded by the Pacific Northwest’s beautiful nature. The campsite is tucked away in the forested area of the state park, perfect for outings on the beach and in the forest lands.
Hiking
Hiking through Beverly Beach State Park is through a very walkable trail. While it’s only 2.7 km, it still has beautiful views of the unique trees in the area, Spencer Creek, and of course, the ocean. Occasional rain can make the trail a bit muddy to explore through, so make sure you bring some proper hiking shoes!
Wildlife Watching
Whale watching is not only a must-do activity in Depoe Bay but near Beverly Beach State Park as well. Grab your binoculars, head over to the Devil’s Punchbowl in Otter Rock, and feast your eyes on some whale migrations! Tidepools surround the state park and you have a great opportunity to see unique sea life while exploring them.
A Beach Day
While there are other great activities to enjoy when visiting Beverly Beach State Park, a simple beach day is also a terrific experience when exploring the area! The beach stretches greatly out, so you have ample space to be spread apart from other visits.
