Depoe Bay is a wonderful place for seafood, but that might not be what you want for breakfast. How do you start the day off right in this wonderful town, especially if you’re getting up early to go out to see the whales.
Here are some breakfast spots we recommend to help you get a good meal…or just coffee to go.
Pirate Coffee
Avoid the chains and check out this family-owned business. Pirate Coffee offers fresh roasted coffee as well as espresso, chocolate, and fresh baked goods. You can get your coffee from anywhere in the world, or try one of their signature blends. It’s in a perfect location to get your coffee to go and then head to Pirate Cove for scenery and maybe even a glimpse of a whale. Be aware that they close on Tuesdays.
Gracie’s Sea Hag
If you want a nice solid breakfast before, say, a day of hiking and exploring, Gracie’s Sea Hag has you covered (also for lunch or dinner!). They sell classic American breakfast – egg platters, build-your-own omelette, pancakes and waffles with Oregon marionberries, or one of their signature breakfasts. You might even be able to skip lunch. What you shouldn’t skip, though, is their signature bloody marys, made from scratch, and with a virgin option if drinking at breakfast isn’t your thing.
Whale Bites Cafe
We recommend this place to vegetarians, vegans, and people who can’t have (or don’t want) gluten. They are closed for renovations right now, but should be back soon better than ever! They have their own vegan menu, and good vegan food is hard to find where most people want seafood. You can also get a gluten free sandwich.
